Visit a City-funded homeless intake center
If you are experiencing homelessness, you can go to an intake center and get help. You can also get help if you are at risk of losing your home.
If you are a domestic violence survivor, you can contact Women Against Abuse any time day or night at (866) 723-3014.

What to expect Assessment
​
You must go through a metal detector screening to enter an intake center.
At the intake center, you will complete an assessment with a social work services manager.
The social work services manager will ask for individual or household information. This may include:

Your name.
-
Birthdate.
-
Social security number.
-
Family makeup.
-
Race.
The social work services manager will ask for proof of identification. In some cases, they will ask for proof of guardianship for minor children. However, no household can be denied entrance into a shelter if they don’t have proof of ID or guardianship.
If you can’t complete the assessment during regular business hours, you can continue working on it at an after-hours center. You can also return to an intake center during regular business hours.

Sometimes the assessment allows us to address additional needs, such as:

Drug and alcohol treatment.

Children and youth services.

Veteran’s services.

Legal services.

Ongoing case management services.

Supportive housing for special populations.

An optional savings program.
Case managers can also work with individuals and families to find transitional, or long-term housing.
